“Dumb and Dumber To” Movie

Local cartoonist Frankie Galasso creates “Memories

Of Rocky Point” Postcard for “Dumb and Dumber To”

Cranston, RI: Frankie Galasso, nationally syndicated and award winning cartoonist, is the artist responsible for the postcard featured in the upcoming movie “Dumb and Dumber To.” This beautiful postcard features some of the legendary buildings and rides that made Rocky Point Park one of the most beloved amusement parks in the country. The images are drawn in cartoon form in the style that has made Frankie Galasso one of the most beloved cartoonists of his era.

Galasso was approached by Jay Floyd, the clearance administrator of the movie’s production team in August of 2013. Floyd asked to use Galasso’s famous “Rocky Point” lithograph, drawn some 14 years ago, and “to use the image for an on set ‘prop’ by the production company.” The lithograph is entitled “Iconic Memories of Rocky Point”. This Rocky Point postcard in “Dumb and Dumber To” represents a critical moment in the movie. It announces to the main characters, played by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, a major announcement that sets the two friends into motion and thus, into the hilarious antics and comedy that have made this comedy duo so popular.

The images displayed on this postcard are from the iconic park which closed its doors some twenty years ago. You can see famous rides such as the Corkscrew, the Flume, and the Spider. It shows the building that housed famous musicians, entertainers, and local celebrities - the Palladium. There are cartoon likenesses of the Shore Dinner Hall, the House of Horrors, and many more. It is a postcard that brings back those special childhood memories that make you grin from ear to ear.

The artist, Frankie Galasso, explains his passion for Rocky Point. “It was our park,” states Galasso “people travelled from all over New England and the US to be a part of this beautiful amusement park.” Galasso felt that the postcard “needed to be from a local. It wouldn’t have had the same heart and soul in it if it were drawn from an outsider just looking at old photos of the park. I went there, I lived it. You see that in the artwork.” Frankie Galasso is a nationally recognized sports cartoonist. In 1987, he made his start with the Evening Times of Pawtucket, RI. His work later found its way onto the Editorial pages of The Providence Journal. His editorial and sports cartoons have been picked up by more than 36 self-syndicated and free-lance newspapers.

The I.C.E. Agency, Frankie Galasso’s promotional agency, is so thrilled to be working the incredible talents of Frankie Galasso. The I.C.E. Agency’s creative director, Noel P. Roby, has been working with local and national talent for close to 10 years. “I’ve never seen a more talented artist than Frankie Galasso” says Roby “His cartoon likenesses are so lifelike. Frankie deserves a ton of praise for his work here.” If you have special memories of Rocky Point Park, this postcard featured in “Dumb and Dumber To” is a must have piece of memorabilia. See the movie “Dumb and Dumber To” due out in theaters this Friday. And keep your eye out for the postcard created by Frankie Galasso.
