My Political Life

I became seriously involved in Politics in 2008 during the financial collapse. I started to connect with other fiscal conservatives and became involved by attending local town meetings.

This will be my second attempt to win the District 32 Representative Seat. The last election was an extremely close race and I lost by 16 mail ballots. I know I can win this time. My life experience and strong will to represent the residents of North Kingstown make me 100% committed to win this election.

I have testified on several occasions in front of House and Senate Committees on bipartisan issues such as:  Estate Tax, Term Limits, The Ethics Bill, Acts Relating to Elections, Consolidation of School Funds, Acts Relating to Cities and Towns, Workers Compensation Bills, Repealing the Master Lever, Acts Relating to Education, Labor and many others. I will continue to do the same in the 2014 session. When bills come to committees that are good for Rhode Island Business I will be there in support. I will be there in strong opposition when bad bills come forth to keep us in an unfriendly environment.

The committees I am presently on are:

Vice Chairwoman of the North Kingstown Republican Town Committee

Republican Credentials Committee

RI Republican Delegate NK Town Committee

North Kingstown Arts Council

North Kingstown Groundwater Committee

I will be attending Town Council Meetings on a regular basis when not at the Statehouse.

My Business Life

We started our business in 1975 and I became actively involved in Cranston Collision Center in 1985. Maintaining and growing a family business is challenging but very rewarding. It is not easy to be in business in Rhode Island, but our 30 dedicated employees and knowing we provide a valuable service to the community, make it all worthwhile. At present, we are servicing a 3rd generation of loyal customers.

Please check out our website for further info on who we are and what we do.

Once In A Blue Moon Antiques was born out of a love for the antiques I collected as a teenage girl so I rented a room in a group shop in East Greenwich and Newport. My items quickly sold every time they were brought in, never knowing who purchased them. While driving down Post Road I spotted an old 1700’s building for sale and in 1999 the official Once in a Blue Moon Antiques was opened. Quickly I found myself selling out and I started traveling to France, loading up on fabulous European Antiques and getting to know my clients on a more personal level. Participating in many antique shows, we won 1st place in the East Side Flower & Garden Show and have been featured in Romantic Country Magazine, People, Places and Plants Magazine, and other publications. Blue Moon is now open by appointment only because of my busy schedule, however, that may change in the spring of 2014!

My Personal Life

I attended Bay View Academy, Cranston East and the University of Connecticut to study Horticulture. I started work as the first female Floral Designer of Jodel’s Florist, a top Floral Design Shops of the time. I later took classes at CCRI and Bryant for business, along with several computer courses.

I married Dennis in 1975, had our son Dennis in 1980, bought our first home in Cranston in 1982 and our daughter Dayna was born in 1984. I joined Dennis in 1985 to run the office at Cranston Collision Center to help grow the business to where it is today.

In 1992 we moved to North Kingstown because we felt it was a great place to raise our children.

Both children attended West Bay Christian Academy; Dennis Jr. graduated Rocky Hill School and attended Berkley College of Music. Dennis is the manager of Cranston Collision Center and designs custom work for DLorenG Custom Rides, our family business. Dayna attended Prout and graduated from North Kingstown High School. Dayna attended Paul Mitchell School and is a Senior Hair Stylist in Boston.

Our son and his wife have 2 children Aaliyah Love Gamba, 9 years old and Dennis 3rd, who is just turning 4. We are a very close family and we continue our tradition by being together every Sunday and having family dinners.

My hobbies are helping the elderly, gardening, raising chickens, and wildlife rescue for which I am licensed. In the winter I spend much time working on the family 401K portfolio. I learned to trade in the stock market on my own after it crashed in 2008-2009. Firing the financial manager, I took on my portfolio, my husbands and our children's which I manage today with steady growth and stability.

My mom and dad are still with us and we relish our family every moment. I have a sister, brother, brother & sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and many close friends from childhood. You will see them on the campaign trail with me!
