Business development is on a lot of North Kingstown resident's minds these days. Businesses create jobs and stimulate our local economy and provide tax relief for working families. In North Kingstown, we have seen ups and downs in terms of business development in areas like Quonset Point, Post Rd, and Wickford. It takes strong leadership and business cultivation to help grow our economy. Enter " RI's Economic Gardener."

Tuni Renaud Schartner owns that title and her signature tells it all "Helping Companies Grow From The Inside Out & The Outside In." Tuni is the co-founder of the Hive, located in the Lafayette Mill Complex. Talk about a business boom. The Lafayette Mill Complex, seemingly empty for a good portion of the last few decades, has made a gigantic resurgence in the last few years. I can attest to this personally, as I recently looked for space to rent in "The Mill" and was told that there were very few, if any, spaces left. Congratulations to everyone involved in the growth and development of Lafayette Mills - creating jobs, cultivating businesses, and making North Kingstown a desirable place to own a business.

Tuni and The Hive RI are hosting its Spring art opening in conjunction with a Lafayette Mill-wide open house at 650 Ten Rod Road, May 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. Original art works will be on display and for sale. They are inviting the public to "come meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and mingle with fun locals the weekend after Memorial Day." For more information call The Hive at 401.295.5941 or click on this link to go to the event page on Facebook.

Stay tuned for articles on the artists of the 2015 Art Show and Spring Open House. The articles will include an artist's bio as well as samples of their work. Let's support our local businesses and artists who make North Kingstown a great place to live and work.
