I recently attended an informational session about a video project to feature our town of North Kingstown. The session was organized by PBS in support of their series called "Our Town." It explained to us at the session that we, local North Kingstown residents, could document, film, video, and tell the stories that make North Kingstown such a great community to live in. At the informational session, there was an opportunity to learn more about filmaking and taking video. Here is an update on that meeting from Jodi Mesolella, the project director for "Our Town:NK." Rhode Island PBS seeks stories about North Kingstown, RI

The Rhode Island PBS Our Town community project and television series is joining the North Kingstown community this spring and summer to kickoff Our Town: North Kingstown. We are seeking stories from friends and neighbors within the North Kingstown community. What makes North Kingstown special to you? You decide what stories should be told about the people, places, and happenings in your area. Whether you’re a longtime resident or simply know a great story to share about the community, there is a story waiting to be told.

Join us for the Filmmaker / Technical Workshop on Wednesday, April 15 at 5:30 p.m. We’ll discuss how to visually tell your story by capturing video and photos from your hometown for the project. The meeting will be at Rhode Island PBS, 50 Park Lane, Providence, RI. Feel free to bring your camera gear and we’ll have our technician review it with you. We will also confirm if your format will work for Our Town North Kingstown.

We welcome you to be part of Rhode Island PBS and the North Kingstown community to plan this program. No experience is necessary, just enthusiasm!
