Local North Kingstown parents Josh and Brienna Colacone have two incredible stories that continue to write themselves every day. I was introduced to Lincoln and Lucy Colacone shortly after their premature births last year on a visit to Woman and Infant's. The care they received at Woman and Infant's Hospital in Providence was nothing short of remarkable. Angels dressed in nurse's uniforms, hospital scrubbies, all working for the common goal of getting these Colacones ready for life. And, as you can see by the photos, Lincoln and Lucy are ready for life. Ready or not, here they come.

This year, the RI March of Dimes is holding a walk to raise money and awareness. The event will be held at Colt State Park in Bristol on Saturday April 25th at 10am. The 3.2 mile walk, according to the March of Dimes website provides funds to support critical research. "Funds raised in March for Babies support research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And they will be used to bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care." The team Josh and Brienna are headed by is called "Cola Strong" and they have been busy raising funds and awareness for the March of Dimes walk. Josh credits March of Dimes researchers for coming up with a critical medicine for his infants - Surfactin. Surfactin is a surfactant which is known "for treating underdeveloped lungs" per www.webmd.com. "Without the help of the March of Dimes research, our littles would have been in big trouble" posted Josh recently on Facebook.

Team captain Brienna has a personal message on their team page that is informational, inspirational, and so true.

"Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick. Our team is walking in March for Babies because we want to do something about this. I know you care, too. That's why I'm asking you to join us. If you can't walk with us, please help by donating to our team. Thank you for helping us give all babies a healthy start! The mission of March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality."
